Stolen two-wheelers recovered, notorious vehicle lifter arrested

UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: With the arrest of a notorious vehicle lifter, Udhampur Police has recovered eight stolen two-wheelers, including seven Scooties and one motorcycle.
Giving details during a press conference, here today, SSP Udhampur, Sargun Shukla said that the recovered two-wheelers were stolen by the arrested accused from different locations of Udhampur during the last month.

These two-wheelers were clandestinely parked at different locations in and around the town for safe exit at appropriate time, said the SSP, adding that more arrests are likely in this case.
Based on the written report lodged by a person namely Chander Shekhar of Ward number 4, Adarsh Colony, Udhampur about some unknown thieves having stolen his Scooty bearing registration number JK14F-5023 on 24-02-2021 from outside his house, a case FIR No. 88/2021 U/S 379 IPC was registered at PS Udhampur.
During the course of investigation, the Police team of PS Udhampur led by Inspector Chanchal Singh, SHO PS Udhampur, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs, was constituted, which raided different locations. On further investigation, the Police team zeroed in on some suspected persons and during sustained interrogation of these suspects, one of them broke down and confessed to the commission of offence.
The identity of the accused person was established as Bashir Ahmed, son of Mirza Khan of Dhamma, Tehsil Majalta District Udhampur A/P Camp Gole Gujral Nabi Tehsil Jammu.
On disclosure of the accused, Police party recovered the said stolen Scooty alongwith seven other stolen vehicles. These include six Scooties and one Motor Bike, bearing registration numbers . PB35AE-1939 (bike , JK14E-7174, JK14F-5763, JK14C- 4950, JK14G-4314, JK14D-3835 and one Scooty without registration number.
These two-wheelers were stolen by the arrested accused from different locations of Udhampur during the period of 12-02-2021 to 24-02-2021. All the stolen vehicles were recovered by Udhampur Police.
