44 bovines rescued by Samba, Kathua police

SAMBA, Mar 3: Samba and Kathua police have rescued 44 bovine animals at different places in twin districts who were being smuggled illegally.
District Police Samba foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 34 bovines after arresting three bovine smugglers in three separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal and Samba.
Police said a team of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal laid a vehicle checking naka at NHW Tapyal and while checking intercepted a Mahindra vehicle having registration number JK21G-4180 which was coming from Kathua side and heading towards Valley. During checking of the vehicle, four bovines were found laden inside it.
The accused driver identified as Vishal Khara, son of Ram Chand of Swankha, tehsil Vijaypur and district Samba has been arrested. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer places. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized. Later PS Ghagwal also rescued 14 more bovines at naka NHW Tapyal which were being transported in a truck having registration number PB10CE-5938 moving towards Valley.
The driver identified as Sukhdev Singh son of Narnjan Singh of Sanjay Gandhi Colony, Ludhiana, Punjab has been arrested on spot. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized.
In another incident, police party of Police Post, RakhAmb-Talli stopped a truck bearing registration number, JK02AJ-6457 heading towards Samba. During checking of the vehicle, 16 bovines were found laden inside it. The driver identified as Amarjeet Singh, son of Bachan Singh of RS-Pura, Jammu has been arrested. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized.
Meanwhile, Kathua police has rescued 10 bovine animals from three vehicles today.
Police said a team under the supervision of Inspector, Surinder Singh during naka checking noticed three suspicious vehicles bearing registration number JK08F7141, JK08J9409 and JK08C5255 respectively and on their thorough checking 10 bovines were found loaded in them which were later on rescued. The trucks were seized also.
