JAMMU, Mar 5: Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting was held at Jammu Airport under the chairmanship of Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament , Lok Sabha from Jammu-Poonch constituency. The meeting was convened by Dr. P.R. Beuria, Airport Director, Jammu. Members from Indian Air Force, district administration, CISF along with nominated members from trade, commerce, industry and socio-political field were present. A brief presentation was made by Airport Director highlighting traffic position, passenger facility, development works and various issues.
Jugal Kishore Sharma MP while speaking in the meeting said that Jammu Airport is primarily situated in the Centre of the city and it also makes our foremost duty to develop it as modular Airport. He said that after the formation of Narendra Modi Government at Centre means of surface transport and airways were given priority in development as they play major role. He said that lot of development has been seen at Jammu Airport by modification and constructing new arrival and departure points, lounge, canteen and much more.
Member of Parliament said that officials of Airport Authorities have also done commendable job for development of Jammu Airport and also in COVID-19 Pandemic. He said now we are enlisted in developing nations and we have to share our views to develop means.
Members of the Committee also shared their valuable suggestions to develop the Airport for public convenience. Vikram Randhawa, Ex-MLC and other members raised the issue of compensation and rehabilitation of occupants displaced from land in front of Airport. Ghansham Singh, ADC, Jammu assured to look in to the matter. Members pointed out the traffic congestion in front of the Airport and demanded for a flyover.
Rajesh Gupta Chairman Tourism Federation and Davinder Choudhary discussed parking issue in the meeting. Dev Raj Advocate and Jugal Kishore Gupta Member Committee also demanded starting of early morning and late night flights.
Jugal Kishore appealed all members to come together to sort out the issue, since development work of the airport is the primary objective.
Sudhir Bali, ACR JMC, Deepak Dhingra SP, South, Gurmeet Singh Commandant CISF, Sukhdev Singh Manager, Indigo, Capt Sandeep Singh Station CDR and other officials were also present on the occasion.
