Ladakh MP meets HRD Minister

New Delhi, Mar 7: On behalf of the Buddhist people of India, Himalayan Buddhist Monastic private Institutions as well as Buddhist Associations, Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal called on Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union HRD Minister and expressed heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to the Modi Govt. for the unparalled initiatives of reviving the Buddhist culture and traditions in India to establish India as a Global Center of Buddhist Culture and Tourism through various initiatives like commencement of courses related to Buddhism and courses supplementing Tourism Studies, promoting of Pali Language etc.
MP also applauded the initiatives of the Ministry of Education, GoI for preparing a comprehensive database on all Buddhism related courses, Buddhist Scholars, and annual conferences/seminars/Conclaves on Buddhism organised by Universities. In this connection he has submitted a writen representation requesting to also collect data, feedbacks and informations from the Non-Governmental Buddhist Institutions and Associations based across India from Ladakh to Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.
“As there are hundreds of NGO’s Buddhist institutions across India that facilitate higher Buddhist studies for thousands of Himalayan Buddhist aspirant monks and nuns students and these private monastic institutions disseminate the ancient Nalanda Tradition Buddhist studies and produces hundreds of highly learned scholars. It would be of great benefit if a feedback is also collected from the high Ranked Rinpoches/Lamas as well as highly qualified scholars from the Nalanda tradition institutions, he added.
