UDHAMPUR, Mar 7: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, Police Party of Police Station Chenani apprehended one drug peddler and seized 37 kg of poppy straw.
During the routine checking at Naka point Motorshed, Chenani police signalled to stop one truck bearing Registration number PB05AL-6794, which was on way from Kashmir to Punjab. During the checking, two bags of poppy straw weighing 36 kg 800 gram were recovered from the truck.
Truck driver, identified as Sandesh Kumar, son of Charan Dass of Dahirpur Abiana, Tehsil Anandpursahab, District Rupnagar ( Roopar) Punjab, was arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw was seized.
In this connection case FIR No. 25/2021 U/s 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection.
