JAMMU, Mar 9: Maintaining that Article 370 and 35A are things of the past and no power on earth excepting the Indian Parliament, the supreme authority, has the capacity to change the situation Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader and incharge, Department of Political Affairs and Feedback, BJP-J&K today said that BJP is deeply committed to its nationalist ideology and it has thus converted its huge mandate of the people into a reality to the charm of every patriot and nationalist of the Indian nation.
In a statement here, today he said this realises the dream of the founding fathers of the Indian Constitution in respect of complete integration of the Jammu and Kashmir State with the Indian Union.
Hitting out at National Conference (NC) he said that the maximum damage to the cause of Jammu region and of the minorities of Kashmir was inflicted by the NC which includes the role and actions of the Chief Minister for the period 1987-90 when terrorism was, allowed to grow and spread in the then State.
Chrungoo further added, “it is very easy for anyone to accuse the opponents of using ‘hatred and religion’ in politics. But the matter of the fact is that the NC all along used religion and the podium of Hazratbal shrine to further its ends at the cost of its opponents in politics. It was again the NC and Sheikh Abdullah who launched the political narrative of J&K being a Muslim majority State and thus should be granted special status in the Indian Union. Article 370 and 35A were the manifestation of the same fake narrative that brought soft separatism and sub-nationalism to play their role to invite fundamentalism, radicalism, social indoctrination, terrorism and uncertainty in the socio-political scenario of the erstwhile State”.
He said “The tantrums that Maharaja Hari Singh was rightly responsible for creating situations for protection of citizens’ rights in Jammu and Kashmir raises one more important question which NC should answer. Why then the Muslim Conference later the NC raised revolt against the Maharaja and launched the so-called ‘Quit-Kashmir’ movement against him. The activists of NC were later accorded the status of ‘freedom fighters’ in this context”, Chrungoo maintained.
