KHOUR, (AKHNOOR), May 28: Making a scathing attack on the Congress leaders for ignoring the Khour area, BJP State vice president and incharge  Akhnoor district, Vibodh Gupta today said that Government has stopped relief to 50,000 people of the area who were forced to migrate during Kargil war in 1999.
Addressing the meetings in Khour area he demanded that agreed package be provided to them. He held three leaders from the area including Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, MP, Madan Lal Sharma and Minister of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma who represent the area responsible for the plight of the people in Khour and Akhnoor blocks. The meeting among other things raised various issues pertaining to forthcoming Assembly elections.
Mr Gupta expressed surprise over the failure of Central and State Governments to provide relief to those who were forced to migrate from Khour during Kargil war. He said 50,000 people are awaiting relief for last eight years which has been stopped by the Government. Terming it a grave injustice with the people, he said they are poor and have lost every thing including land and houses during the war.
He said the Government at the time of migration had promised Rs 400 pension, a flat to every family and financial assistance to construct houses but the same was not kept. He demanded rehabilitation package with monthly relief at par with Kashmiri migrants for these people.
