EPD seals illegal commercial structure

SRINAGAR, Mar 13: The Evacuee Property Department (EPD) Kashmir under the supervision of District Administration and Police today sealed a commercial shopping complex raised illegally at Tengproa, Srinagar.
The EPD said that the structures were constructed against the provisions of the law on the Evacuee Property land belonging to Faqirullah Khan and others situated at Tengpora.
It said that the department had earlier served the notices to all the illegal occupants who have raised construction on the Evacuee property land measuring 160 Kanals which include the sealed illegal construction raised recently.
“The illegal occupants namely Abdul Majeed Dar and Gh. Nabi Dar, sons of Gh. Rasool Dar were provided with an opportunity to produce documents if any related to the land in question but they did not turn up with any documentary evidence which led to the sealing of illegal construction,” EPD said in a statement here.
It said that recently, a meeting was held with Deputy Commissioner Srinagar who desired to visit the spot and during today`s spot visit the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar asked the Custodian Evacuee Property Kashmir to start the process of demarcation as well as identification of E.P land along with revenue agency and prepare a list of all illegal residential as well as commercial establishments raised on the Evacuee land for further action as warranted under law.
It said that such drives undertaken against the violators will continue and appealed to the general public to refrain from raising illegal construction on the Evacuee land failing which action, as warranted under law, will be taken against such violators which include sealing and demolition of such illegal structures.
