Various organizations express concern over power cuts

JAMMU, May 28: Various political organizations expressed concern over the unpredicted power cuts in various areas of the Jammu region.
The workers of the Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DF&SS) took out a procession under the leadership of Ashok Gupta against 12 hours cut by the Electricity Department in rural areas and 6-7 hours in Jammu city. The protestors also accused the PHE Department of not supplying drinking water on regular basis. They demanded regular power and water supply.
A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir Front was held under the chairmanship of its president Shadi Lal Pandita which flayed the Power Development Department (PDD) for imposing 18 hours power cuts in Jagti township. During the meeting, the speakers urged the Government and PDD to reduce the prevailing power cuts to some extent.
A delegation of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) led by its president Sunil Dimple met PHE Minister Sham Lal Sharma and apprised him about the prevailing power and water supply scenario in the winter capital. Sham Lal Sharma directed Chief Engineer PDD Shehnaz Goni and PHE Department to look into the matter and redress the issues at the earliest.
