SAMBA, Mar 15: Expressing strong resentment against rising fuel prices, unemployment, and governance deficit in J&K, the Congress leaders under the leadership of JKPCC vice president Raman Bhalla today took out a protest march against BJP Government in Samba.
The protest was organized by Sanjeev Sharma PCC secretary and prominent among those present on the occasion include PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, senior leaders Kamar Singh, Col Swaran Sharma, Babble Gupta, Vinod Kumar and Latish Sharma. Hundreds of party activists with placards in their hands, raising slogans against the Central government, took out huge protest March in the main Bazar of Samba covering different lanes and bylanes during the protest.
Addressing protesters Bhalla claimed that countdown to the BJP’s ouster in J&K has already begun with the result of recently concluded DDC elections and the support of the people for the Congress will definitely bring a new dawn in J&K. Bhalla demanded that the BJP Government should provide immediate relief to people from the rising prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas.
He said the petrol and diesel are helping in social programmes and infrastructure development. The way petrol, diesel and gas prices have increased is appalling. Cooking gas is also dearer as petrol and diesel prices continue to rise, thus people are being squeezed by the government for money. Former minister lashed out at the BJP for yet again making false promises to people to hide their consistent failures. Being the ruling party at the Centre and having secured heavy mandate in the elections from Jammu region, the BJP failed to address the genuine problems and concerns of the people.
Accusing the BJP of disregarding the aspirations of the people of J&K and ignoring the burning issues of masses, former minister said that BJP had given wide publicity to public issues during 2019 elections with high hopes generated amongst various sections of society which eventually ended in smoke. Bhalla sought a white paper from the BJP on the development undertaken and jobs provided to the educated unemployed youth of Jammu region during the past over six years.
PCC chief spokesman said that BJP was igniting the fire of inflation, after taking votes from the people. He said that BJP in the name of development has thrown the public into the fire of inflation, unemployment. He expressed concern over increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas and urged the government to take cognizance of it and find a solution.
Sharma said BJP leaders who used to protest over prices of petrol and diesel during in opposition have now kept mum. He said the people of the country had “chosen PM Narendra Modi on the promise of good day, now he has broken the trust of the people . On one side there is an all-round inflation and on the other, there is a spate of diesel-petrol-gas prices,” Sharma added.
