JAMMU, Mar 17: The Civil Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) here today demanded reorganization of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) as number of Wards with the JMC has increased from 23 to 75 but the strength of civil staff has not increased due to which work load on the existing staff has increased manifolds.
In a press conference Rinku Gill, president of CSKU demanded hike in salaries of Safai Karamcharis including those working with NGOs as present salaries of these workers is very meager.
He also demanded that 600 new posts of Safai Karamcharis should be filled soon by engaging genuine persons who have already worked as Safai Karamcharis on NGO basis.
Gill further demanded regularization of 32 drivers working with JMC and two and half day salaries for Safai Karamcharis and drivers working with JMC.
Promotion of drivers and cleaners was also demanded.
