JAMMU, Mar 25: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) carried out anti-encroachment drive here today.
The drive was carried out from Gole Market to Last Morh area in Gandhi Nagar here.
Illegal structures raised on the State land were demolished by the Government machinery.
However, strong resistance was expressed by the some of the shopkeepers against the drive and also had arguments with the JMC officials, who were carrying out this anti-encroachment drive. Click here to watch video
While speaking, some of the shopkeepers alleged that JMC carried out selective drive to remove encroachments.
“Entrances of several shops were demolished by the JMC officials and no action was taken against many others, who had also encroached the land”, the shopkeepers added. No notice was served before carrying out the anti-encroachment drive, they said.
Similar action should be taken against all encroachers, they demanded.
However, large contingent of police was deployed to control any law and order situation.
