Srinagar man dies in Jammu, Headmaster +ve

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Mar 25: A man from Srinagar putting up at Qasim Nagar on outskirts of the Jammu City died of COVID Pneumonia today while Headmaster of a Government High School in the City tested positive for the virus after which students and staff members were subjected to sampling.
A total of 172 persons tested positive for Coronavirus including 131 in Kashmir and 41 in Jammu. In Ladakh, 13 persons tested positive in Leh district.
A 45-year-old man hailing from Srinagar but temporarily putting up at Qasim Nagar on Jammu City’s outskirts died of COVID Pneumonia and co-morbidities in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today, Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
He added that body of the COVID victim was sent to Srinagar for burial as per the COVID protocol.
Meanwhile, Headmaster of Government Girls High School Kachi Chawni has tested positive for COVID-19. However, the School wasn’t closed as the Headmaster hadn’t visited the institution for last couple of days.
Staff members and some students were subjected to testing for COVID-19 but their reports are awaited.
Among 41 persons, who tested positive for the virus in Jammu region, 34 belonged to Jammu district, three Kathua and two each Doda and Samba districts. Rest six districts in the Jammu region didn’t report any fresh cases today.
On the other, 14 persons recovered from the virus including 12 in Jammu district and two in Poonch.
Jammu region now has 52545 COVID cases. Among them, 384 are active positives while 51429 have recovered from the virus and there have been 732 casualties in the region.
The fatalities include 379 in Jammu district followed by 64 Doda, 57 Udhampur, 55 Rajouri, 53 Kathua, 41 Samba, 24 Poonch, 22 Kishtwar, 21 Ramban and 16 in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, 13 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh today, all in Leh district.
The UT of Ladakh now has 9942 Corona cases including 101 active positives (97 in Leh and four in Kargil) as 9711 have been treated.
There have been 130 COVID casualties in Ladakh-86 in Leh and 44 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir reported 131 COVID-19 cases today.
Those who tested positive include 65 Srinagar, 30 Baramulla, 16 Budgam, 5 Pulwama, 2 Kupwara, 8 Anantnag, 3 Bandipora and 2 from Shopian.
With fresh cases, the number of total cases in Kashmir division has reached 76,658 including 74,198 recoveries and 1,251 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,593 including 1,209 from Kashmir division.
With 92 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 125,627, which is 97.23 percent of the total cases.
