World Theatre Day celebrated

JAMMU, Mar 26: World Theatre Day celebrated with enthusiasm and fanfare.
World Theatre Day celebrations begin at Natrang Studio Theatre. Opened with a seminar on theatre, the celebrations will continue till March 31, 2021 which will follow a festival of acclaimed plays of Natrang featured in its weekly Sunday Theatre.
Natrang Director Balwant Thakur who is also the Cultural Diplomat of India while presenting his keynote address in World Theatre Day seminar dwelt in detail the significance of the celebrations of this auspicious day of theatre lovers.
Joined by senior actors of Natrang viz Suresh Kumar, Anil Tickoo, Neeraj Kant and Subash Jamwal Balwant Thakur said that Natrang is celebrating the ‘World Theatre Day 2021’ in a big way featuring five plays to commemorate this International Day of Theatre from tomorrow to March 31.
Department of English, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu organized online GAB-FEST to commemorate World Theatre Day. Welcome address was delivered by Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Student Welfare and Coordinator, Department of English, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, CLUJ. The participants from the respective PGI English Hons (School of Humanities and Liberal Arts)/ UG English Hons (Government MAM College) came up with different dialogues, monologues, speeches, and delivered them with great fondness and zeal. The first position was bagged by Nikita (PGI English Hons Semester 3, Department of English, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts), second position was bagged by Ajaz Ahmed (PGI English Hons, Semester 5, Department of English, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts) and third positions was bagged by Sarthika Sharma (PGI English Hons Semester 3, Department of English, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts).
To celebrate World Theatre Day, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan presented musical concert ‘Sari Sanjj’ in close coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production. The chief guest VK Magotra, Former Regional Director Government of India inaugurated the concert. Kartar Chand, Tara Singh Charak, Former Deputy Director of Health Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government and Jai Kishan Raina, Director Producer of Films, Jammu and many others were present on the occasion. The music was assisted by renowned Singer Raju Bajgal. Earlier, ML Dogra, Chairman BLSKS presented the welcome address.
