ADKUF discusses problems of displaced Pandits

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 30: A meeting of the All Displaced Kashmiri United Forum (ADKUF) was held under its chairman, D N Kissu wherein discussions were held on various issues being faced by exiled Pandits.
D N Kissu expressed anguish at the indifferent attitude of the Government in fulfilling just and genuine demands of the displaced Pandits. He reminded the Government that since the Pandits have no political representation their voice does not reach the concerned thus have been neglected altogether. They have been deprived of the fruits of democracy. He stressed for creating five Assembly seats and at least two Parliamentary seats in exile till Pandits are rehabilitated in Valley.
P L Sudeshi, president of the Forum appealed the Lt Governor that voter ID cards have still not been issued to more than 40% eligible voters. He appealed for including the votes in local voter lists which were deleted for ambiguous but debatable reasons.
Prof GL Koul, chief advisor of the Forum reiterated the demand that encroachment of immovable property of displaced Pandits is continuing unabated and there is hardly any action taken by the revenue authorities on submitting a complaint. Complaints submitted online are simply forwarded further to concerned authorities but are never monitored if any action has been taken.
PN Raina said that more than 88% of the displaced Pandits live in their own or rented accommodation but there is no provision in the budget at all for non-camp residents.  He appealed the LG for keeping a provision for the displaced Pandits outside the camps.
CL Zutshi organising secretary appealed the Central Government to give the rehabilitation plan a practical shape and not keep it limited to statements alone. He reiterated the demand of the Forum that the Pandits must be rehabilitated at a single place only where they can preserve and nourish their thousands year old culture heritage and ethics and where there will be no security issues also.
The Forum unanimously supported the demands of Pandits on dharna at Jagti township and appealed the LG to fulfill their just and genuine demands.
Among others, president Women Wing Phoola Bhat, ML Koul and PL Razdan also addressed the meeting.
