Srinagar Mar, 30: In an attempt to salute the contribution of doctors, SKIMS organized a one day programme on the eve of International Doctor’s day today.
Director SKIMS, Prof A.G Ahangar on the occasion said that this year more than ever we are reminded of the dedication of doctors and health professionals who are fighting COVID 19 alongside policymakers and all health care workers are contributing immensely to this fight against COVID.
Dr Ahangar condemned the ill-treatment faced by doctors during pandemic at certain places and said doctors always perform their duties with utmost conscience and ultimate aim to protect and save the patient.
Dean Medical Faculty, SKIMS, Prof Omar Javaid Shah who, was present on the occasion welcomed the guests and lauded the contribution of all healthcare workers which he said always serve humanity risking their own life.
The special guest on the occasion senior advocate, Supreme Court of India, Zaffar A Shah elaborated the need for better doctor-patient relationship and various aspects of law protecting the rights of doctors as well as patients.
Prof. Rakesh Sehgal, Director NIT in his lecture underscored the fact that science today has evolved to an extent that coherence between engineering and medicine is inevitable and said NIT can collaborate in various areas to mutually benefit the community.
Dr Tajammul Hussain Shah from the Dept of Pulmonology was felicitated on the occasion for his outstanding contribution to patient care in COVID 19.
He also spoke on challenges doctors face while performing their duties and said that doctors suffer from Burnout Syndrome impacting their physical and social life and also affect patient care delivery.
Prof Shariq Masoodi, the chief coordinator of the event proposed the vote of thanks.
