JAMMU, Apr 2: Good Friday was celebrated with a spirit of partaking in the suffering and death of Lord Jesus by St Peter’s Catholic Community with faith and devotion.
To celebrate the day fittingly and meaningfully, St Peter’s Catholic Community took part in the solemn “Way of the Cross enactment’ in the city roads, while reciting the historical details of Jesus’ crucifixion trying to walk along with Jesus on his way to Crucifixion.
A scene of Jesus carrying the deadly cross was made alive with help of the youth members and the gathering followed the scene, stopped at every station of the Cross and mourned the death of their saviour. Click here to watch video
Then there was a long prayer service to listen to the Biblical narratives of the passion of Jesus, including the veneration of the Cross, during the passion reading and receiving the Holy Communion.
The choir led the sorrowful liturgy with meaningful songs and prayers. The faithful who had fasted for the last forty days at last broke their fast after the service.
A large numbers of members of Christian community including men women and children took part in the procession.
The peaceful Good Friday peaceful procession was conducted under the guidance of Rev Fr Kuriakose T (Priest Incharge) and Rev Fr Jafat Masih (Asst Parish Preist).
