JAMMU, Apr 4: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Jammu Kashmir projected its demands including revision in minimum wages at par with Central Government, during its two-day triennial conference, which concluded today.
The conference discussed a number of issues concerning labourers and demanded the JK EPFO to withdraw the illegal order of lowering the interest rates to 5.5% from existing 8.5%. The BMS leaders also demanded revision in minimum wages at par with Central Government minimum wages, to make fix schedules of meetings in the beginning of the year for different boards constituted under different labour laws and constitution of Dharmarth Trust Board as public board on the lines of Shrine Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
The leaders resolved to fully support the agitation of daily wagers and demanded their regularization in a phased manner. They also demanded implementation of central rates of minimum wages in Chenab Valley Power Projects, declaration of Aganwadi workers as Government employees and hiked their salary to Rs 15,000 and Helpers to Rs 10,000 per month.
Meanwhile, the meeting elected new body of BMS which comprised of Ishfaq Ahmed Chohan as president, Neelam Sharma as general secretary, Harbans Choudhary as working president, Dev Parkash and Kamlesh Devi as vice presidents, Ravi Hans and Mukesh Kumar as secretaries, Naseeb Singh and Rohit Seth as publicity secretary, Sachin Bali as cashier and Ashok Choudhary as organizing secretary.
Besides, Suresh Raina, Shamsher Chand, Yog Raj, Chunni Lal, Inderjit Singh, Roshu Gupta, Neena Devi, Rajveer Rashpal, Mahish Singh, Kartar Chand, Roop Lal, Rajinder Singh, Anil Kumar and Bushan Sharma were nominated as executive members.
