Tarigami seeks repatriation of KU Professors from Ladakh University

SRINAGAR, Apr 5: CPI (M) leader and former MLA Mohd Yusuf Tarigami has demanded repatriation of Professors of Kashmir University, posted in Ladakh.
” At least 15 Assistant Professors, of KU, who had been posted at the Leh and Kargil campuses of the varsity since 2015, are demanding their repatriation for the last one and half years, without yielding any results,” he said in a statement, issued here today.
Following Jammu and Kashmir’s bifurcation, KU’s Leh and Kargil campuses were transferred to the University of Ladakh and as per the provisions of the Reorganization Act, all Government employees’ preferences were sought.
“These Assistant Professors had also sought repatriation to the KU. While the University of Ladakh has issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) in favour of their repatriation, so-far the KU has reportedly refused to grant these professors their transfers, citing non-availability of posts in the varsity even as more than a hundred teaching positions are purportedly lying vacant in the KU,” said Mr Tarigami and hoped that Lt Governor J&K, who is also the Chancellor of the KU, will look into the matter and impress upon KU administration to ensure redressal of their grievances.
