REASI, Apr 5: Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag today chaired a meeting of officers to review the functioning of Rural Development Department.
Vice Chairperson, Sajra Qadir, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar Sharma, Chairpersons of Block Development Councils (BDCs), Members of District Development Council (DDC) were also present.
While taking review of schemes, the Chairperson impressed upon officers to formulate the annual action plans as per the guidelines and adhering to timeline. He also stressed on execution of works in transparent and efficient manner so that benefits reach the common masses in time.
He also instructed the officers to ensure proper monitoring and execution of the RDD schemes like PMAY-G, MGNREGA, Swachh Bharat Mission, CD Panchayats, Tribal Sub Plan etc at Panchayat levels. He stressed that tangible results should be visible on ground.
Meanwhile, the DDC members and BDCs also raised the issues of installation of hand pumps, completion of Panchayat Ghars, meeting shortage of staff, release of pending payments of IHHL units, release of payments to PMAY-G beneficiaries, tendering of Back to village works, establishment of BDC offices, construction of foot bridges and opening of mining blocks.
Earlier, Assistant Commissioner Development Dr Anirudh Rai briefed the meeting about the achievements of the department like persondays generation, wage payments, adhaar seeding, completion of houses under PMAY-G. He informed that 1676 houses have been completed under PMAY-G and 18 lakhs persondays were generated with sixty percent timely payments.
The Chairperson further asked for chalking out effective plans and to concentrate more on water conservation through MGNREGA works. He stressed on the need to further strengthen the Panchayat Raj system which is a potent tool in improving the living standards of poor masses. He asked the officers to hold Gram Sabhas on regular basis to set priorities under various schemes of Rural Development Department.
The meeting was also attended by Executive Engineer REW Pankaj Sharma, Chief Planning Officer, BDOs, DFOs and officers of other sectors.
