SRINAGAR, Apr 9: Police in Handwara today said to have arrested eight persons and also seized equal number of vehicles for illegal mining and transporting of clay.
Police said that in its continuous drive and action against illegal mining, extraction and transporting of clay/sand from Nalla Mawar, a police party of Police Post Langate headed by Incharge Police Post Sub Inspector Shahid Nazir while on patrolling seized eight vehicles bearing Registration No. “JK05E/ 6247, jk05G/ 4142, JK13E/ 2804, JK 18/ 6011,CH NO. NHN 36305ZKH47955, CH NO. NHN 363002KN490769, JK09/4712 and JK05F/3903 loaded with illegal clay and sand extracted from Nalla Mawar, police said.
The drivers of said vehicles have also been arrested for violation.
In this regard, case FIR Number 79/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation is initiated.
