Dr Vikas conferred Young Scientist Award

JAMMU, Apr 9: Dr. Vikas Gupta son of Kulbushan Gupta and Aruna Gupta of Jawahar Nagar, Udhampur has been conferred Young Scientist Award 2021 by ‘Agriculture Today Group’ in Agriculture Extension Awards 2021 ceremony held today at New Delhi on virtual mode.
The award was given to Dr Gupta for work on ‘Tribal Youth empowerment through mushroom cultivation for livelihood security in High Himalaya’.
The award was presented to Dr. Vikas Gupta by Director General, ICAR Dr. Trilochan Mahapatra in presence of VC SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof. J.P Sharma and Dr. Rajbeer Singh, Director KVKs North Zone.
The award contains a certificate of excellence along with memento.
Dr. Vikas Gupta is working as Scientist in Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Leh (Ladakh).
He done several innovations in cold desert Leh and introduced several new technologies in the region to promote mushroom cultivation for socio-economic upliftment of the tribal farming community of Ladakh region and filed patent.
He conducted several Skill Development Training Programmes on ‘Mushroom Grower’. He established first spawn cum pathology lab and mushroom demonstration unit at Leh.
He has more than 100 publications to his credit including full length research papers, book chapters, edited book, abstracts, research articles etc. He is also reviewer of several national and international journals.
