This has reference to the news item ‘Governor for revival, showcasing of State’s Cultural Heritage’ DE June 3.
The Jammu and Kashmir State, due to its unique geographical and topographical features is a repository of cultural heritage. All the three provinces boast of a unique heritage. This heritage is what tourists from different parts of the world come to see. While it is of great significance that we showcase this heritage to the world, so that they get aware of our wisdom,and our knowledge with regard to different aspects of life. It is equally important that we preserve it first. Due to cultural onslaught from western countries and active participation by media in it, we are gradually losing what has fashioned our life during the course of evolution of our society. In case, we remain insensitive towards protecting our culture, we will be losing our identity. This loss of identity could in way be compensated howsoever, we may be materially rich.
