SRINAGAR, June 4: Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof Talat Ahmad today distributed scholarship cheques worth Rs two lakh among meritorious students of various departments of the varsity.
The scholarships were sponsored by Kashmir University Alumni Association (KUAA), University of Kashmir. General Secretary, KUAA, Prof Mushtaq Ahmad Kaw was present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Talat Ahmad, who is also president of the KUAA, said it was important to help students and varsity was very eager to help them in every possible way.
Prof Talat said the University would start residential coaching centre at the KU campus for which the Government of India had assured full assistance. “This centre will provide coaching to the students of the Valley and help them prepare to crack the civil service exams,” he added.
General Secretary, KUAA, Prof Mushtaq Ahmad Kaw said that Kashmir University Alumni Association (KUAA) is a Non-political Association which is registered with the J & K Government right from 2002. KUAA has been serving the society by providing scholarships to graduate and post-graduate students. The KUAA also strives to help alumni, maintain connections to their Alma Mater as well as fellow graduates and also provides a common platform for interaction of alumni of the University, Prof Kaw informed.
