99,440 admissions worth Rs 58 cr authorized in J&K

55% of eligible J&K families now have one member with Ayushman card

Srinagar, Apr 12: Since the launch of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) in J&K more than two years ago, over 5 lakh families have been covered under the scheme here and over 10, 000 families in Ladakh.
As per figures, as of December 2020, 5,97,801 eligible families have been covered under the scheme in J&K while as in Ladakh, 10,904 eligible families have been covered.
Also, the figures reveal that in J&K, 56.5% of eligible AB PM-JAY families now have at least one member in the family having one Ayushman Card, while as in Ladakh, 70% eligible AB PM-JAY families now have at least one member of the family having one Ayushman-card.
Further, in J&K, 99,440 hospital admissions worth Rs 58 crore have been authorized under the scheme, while as in Ladakh, 869 hospital admissions worth Rs 79 lakh have been authorized under the scheme as of December 2020.
Pertinent to mention here that the UT has ensured the inclusion of missing families from the Socio-Economic Caste Census-2011 database through the deployment of data entry portals, while the scheme operates on insurance mode in convergence with AB PM-JAY.
Further, figures reveal that there has been a total claim of Rs 53 crore since the start of the scheme out of which Rs 42 crore has been paid. Similarly, in Ladakh, out of a total claim of 72 lakhs as of December 2020, Rs 56 lakh have been paid.
With regard to e-cards of the scheme, in J&K, 11.4 lakh e-cards have been issued as of December 2020, while as in Ladakh, 31,707 e-cards under the scheme have been issued.
AB PM-JAY was launched on September 23, 2018 in J&K as a part of a nationwide launch and recently, J&K formally e-launched the AB PM-JAY SEHAT scheme on December 26, 2020, giving coverage to all the residents of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir irrespective of their economic and social background.
After the launch of AB PM-JAY SEHAT, Jammu and Kashmir has become the second State, Union Territory after Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh to provide free and cashless health insurance coverage to the entire population.
Under the scheme, a free of cost insurance cover is provided to all the residents of the UT of J&K and also provides a financial cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family on a floater basis to all residents of the UT of J&K. The scheme provides for the operational extension of PM-JAY to 15 lakh additional families, thus, covering approximately 21 lakh families of the UT.
