Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 159 cattle rescued, 13 arrested

JAMMU, Apr 12: Nagrota, Chenani, Tikri and Batote Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 159 cattle and arresting thirteen smugglers.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Inspector Mohammad Shoket under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and intercepted a vehicles bearing registration number JK02BR-4686.
During checking, police team rescued four bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Abdul Latif, son of Abdul Gani of Batroo Ukhral District Ramban and Manzoor Ahmed, son of Noor Illahi of Sakinder Pura Bishnah.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Chenani laid a naka at Motorshed on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted six vehicles.
During checking, police team rescued 89 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested six persons, who were identified as Shakeel Ahmed, son of Abdul Rahim of Tral, Pulwama, Aijaz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mustafa of Baramulla, Mohammad Sabar, son of Kaloo of Verinag, Anantnag, Mohammad Shabir, son of Fareed Ahmed of Jhajjar Kotli, Rehmatullah, son of Abdul Salam of Kulgam and Abdul Sitar, son of Mohammad Yousuf of Chanderkote, District Ramban.
However, a team from Police Post Tikri laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK18C-2717.
During frisking, police team rescued 20 bovine animals from the truck and arrested two persons, who were identified as Javed Ahmed, son of Abdul Salam of Kulgam and Usmaan, son of Mohammad Jumma of Anantnag.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Batote led by SHO Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao laid a naka and intercepted three vehicles.
During checking, police team rescued 46 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested three persons, who were identified as Waseem Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad Beigh of District Anantnag, Imtiyaz Butt, son of Ahmedullah Butt of District Anantnag and Mohammad Gafoor, son of Shah Mohammad of Tharad Bali Nala District Udhampur.
Cases under relevant Sections were registered at Nagrota, Chenani, Rehmbal and Batote Police Stations and investigation started.
