Legal luminary Mohinder Singh passes away

JAMMU, Apr 15: Famous legal luminary, former member of the State Judiciary, (District and Sessions Judge-Retd), Mohinder Singh, who was widely known for his integrity, competence and judicial ethics, left for heavenly abode on April 14, 2021.
In his spotless and illustrious career, Mohinder Singh undertook some of the most important and challenging assignments in State judiciary including serving as TADA Judge for the State for 5 years. He joined the State Judiciary in 1968 as Munsiff and retired in 1997 as District and Sessions Judge.
Mohinder Singh was born in 1937 in district Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir. He received his law degree from one of the most prestigious institutions of the time, the Aligarh Muslim University where he served as a Cabinet member.
Even after his retirement from Judiciary, Judge Mohinder Singh served the State by first serving as a member of the State Human Rights Commission and then as a member of the State Subject Inquiry Commission.
Mohinder Singh was loved and respected throughout his career by his colleagues, members of the Bar and the people of Jammu and Kashmir for his honesty, judicial competence, friendly and honourable demeanour.
He is survived by his wife and three sons.
