SAMBA, June 5: An Army jawan allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle in Bari Brahmana area of the district, police said.
The jawan identified as Sagar Kumar, resident of Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, who was deployed with 422 Engineers regiment at B D Bari in Bari Brahmana, this evening shot himself with his service rifle while on duty, a police spokesperson said.
He said that a suicide note written in Kumar’s mother tongue was also recovered from the spot, adding, the jawan took the extreme step while on duty at ammunition depot.
A case has been registered and investigations are in progress, he said.
