JAMMU, Apr 18: Activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) along with traders and people of Ward numbers 16, 18, 24 and Tali Morh staged protest demonstration against Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) as nallahs overflowing water entered in various households and shops, damaged electronic gadgets and appliances.
The protest was organised under the leadership of JWAM leader Sunil Dimple at New Plot.
While addressing the protestors, JWAM leader said that for the last many years no desilting works of the adjoining nallahs were carried by the JMC, resulting of it most of the nallah have been chocked.
“The yesterday’s two hours rain has exposed the tall claims of the Jammu Smart City, claimed by the Government as well as JMC,” Dimple said and criticized the functioning of local Corporator and Mayor for overall development of drainage system.
He alleged that no development has been carried out in the West Assembly constituency since many years and this constituency is considered to be most backward and undeveloped constituency of the Jammu district.
He appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to announced special package for drainage system of this constituency; otherwise the slogan of Jammu Smart City will prove as rhetoric. He also gave 24 hours ultimatum to JMC to stop the overflowing of these nallahs.
Sita Ram Rakwal, Rajinder Kumar, Dass Kumar, Amrik Singh, Gopal Dass, DN Raina, Surinder Kumar and many other were present during the protest.
