JAMMU, June 6: State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) Jammu has issued directives to Power Development Department to issue sufficient electricity to Jagti township which is prime requirement of the time and the basic need of the inmates there in this scorching heat till matter is resolved.
The order was passed by the Commission comprising of S Amolak Singh its member. It has also took serious exception to PDD and DC Jammu for not sending its representative before the Commission during the date of hearing. It directed them to send their representatives on next date of hearing along with relevant records failing which the Commission will be forced to proceed against them under Section 14 of J&K Protection of Human rights Act 1997 and other provisions of Code of Civil Procedure.
However, Vinay Khousla, tehsildar Vigilance appearing on behalf of Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) Jammu stated that the matter with regard to supply of electricity at Jagti township Jammu has already been taken up with the concerned Department. He produced the copies of letters before the Commission in this regard.
The Commission also directed the Relief Commissioner Migrant to press the concerned authority on this burning problem again and submit the progress by or before next date.
The Commission in its order further said to get the speedy justice is the fundamental right of every citizen and no public servant can afford to show disrespect, disregard and infringement to the fundamental rights of the citizens of this country. The Commission has fixed next date of hearing on July 30, 2013.
