NGEU token strike enters 26th day

JAMMU, June 6: On the 26th day of the token strike launched by the Jammu University Non Gazetted Employees Union, a rally was taken out by the class-1V, casual labourers and safai karamcharis inside the University Campus.
The protestors were demanding fulfillment of their demands including their regularization.
Addressing the protestors, Krishan Chand, president, NGEU, exhorted upon the cadres to get ready for the fifth phase of agitation which is going to commence from Monday. Krishan Chand said that nobody is coming forward from Jammu University authorities to solve their problems, which indicates the negative posture adopted by them.
While speaking, Mohd Javed, casual labourer working as safai-Karamchari, threatened to commit suicide, if he is not regularized. Javed said that in the rising prices of the essential commodities, it is impossible to lead a good life with meager salary of Rs 4000.
He urged the Chancellor NN Vohra to come forward and redress the issues of the class-1V employees, casual labourers and safai karamcharis who have rendered their whole life serving the Jammu University.
Meanwhile, Subhash Shastri,  President, National Mazdoor Conference and Karnail Chand, State President,  Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh also visited the Varsity campus and extended support to the ongoing struggle of NGEU.
Vijay Kumar, general secretary, NGEU, warned the JU authorities not to test the patience of these employees before it is too late.
