DC, ADC escape, 2 cops hurt in stoning

RAJOURI, June 6:  While the Deputy Commissioner, Additional DC  Rajouri and a DySP escaped unhurt, an ASI and driver of SDPO Thana Mandi were injured after some women started stone pelting on them at village Saaj in Thana Mandi this evening.
On the directions of the court, the DC Rajouri,  F C Bhagat, ADC Matloob Khan, Tehsildar Thana Mandi Farooq Khan and SDPO Thana Mandi  Mujib-ur-Rehman had gone to Saaj village to settle a dispute over the construction of a tractor road from Saaj to Tanda village. Nearly 5-6 families had objected to the construction and the issue was pending for the last many years.
When the officers from the administration went there, they called all the villagers of the area. The members of these families were also summoned and the matter was amicable resolved in presence of  DC. As the DC and other officers sat in their vehicles and started moving back to Rajouri, some women of these families who were sitting at some height in the fields, at some distance started pelting stones on the vehicles.  While the officers escaped unhurt, ASI Shabir Ahmed and Constable driver,  Khadam Hussain received head injuries. They were removed to hospital and provided treatment.
As there was no lady constables with the officers, they maintained restrain and took no immediate action against these families for attack. However, a case FIR No. 85/2013 under sections 302/147/148/353 and 182 RPC was registered against 18 members of these families. The Administration has taken serious note of the incident. The police was looking for these accused who have escaped from their houses. The teams of lady police, assisted by male cops were conducting raids to nab them.
