Observing World Environment Day has become a ritual now. We celebrate it for its sake. Infact, people are not much interested in protecting our environment. As we do not feel its pinch to the extreme, people have left it for environmentalists to preserve it. Protecting environment is not just the responsibility of NGOs or environmentalists but all people have to come forward to contribute their bit.
Most of the schools too get involved in this ritual. Many competitions, seminars, debates are organised on the day. But as the day is over, no one remembers about the previous day. Then it is once again the same story. Protecting environment has to be a permanent feature. It has to be taken seriously by the people, NGOsand the concerned Governments. If we are really disturbed by Global warming, we have to think of all possible measures to counter it before it may unleash its fury in full.
