RAJOURI, June7: The four-day long Cultural and Sports Mela was inaugurated today by the Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) amid colourful opening ceremony at Thannamandi, district Rajouri. The inaugural ceremony was attended by more than 800 people of the area. The aim of the Mela is to inculcate the spirit of sports culture and sportsmanship amongst the youth. The Mela will feature a number of sports competitions including Volleyball, Kabaddi and Kho-Kho. Approx 14 teams from the nearby areas will be participating in each event. Besides, the event will also provide an opportunity to the school and college students to showcase their creative talents during the cultural programme and sports competition. Speaking on the occasion, Ayaz Khan, the District Youth Services and Sports Officer appreciated the efforts of Army and exhorted the youth to make full use of this wonderful opportunity.
