SSIA to stop repairing PDD transformers

Jammu, June 7: Appealing Government to release Rs 10 crore, the Small Scale Industries Association (SSIA) associated with manufacture and repair of power transformers has decided to stop repairing the transformers untill the pending money is released.
“We have received a meager amount of Rs 20 lakh only against the liability of more than 10 crore for the repair of the transformers and this amount has accumulated over last few years,” alleged Association president.
In a press statement, the SSIA appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his intervention in the matter to release the pending payment against the repair of the transformers.
“We have exhausted our funds and have no further capacity to undertake repair activity due to which we are forced to stop the repair the transformers from today till the payment is released,” the Association president added.
Accusing the Government of adopting double standard, the Association taking reference of a letter written by the Chief Engineer Elect Maintenance and RE Wing alleged that the Government have released Rs 175 lakh in favour of EM and RE Wing of Kashmir and only Rs. 20 lakhs for EM and RE Wing of Jammu for the repair of the damaged transformers.
