Cheat nabbed with gold

SRINAGAR, May 30: Police arrested a cheat and recovered gold jewellery worth lakhs from him.
A police spokesman said that Pampore police arrested a cheat who in a disguise of a saint (peer) defrauded gullible people of their jewelry and cash. Identified as Zahoor Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of Sader Bagh-Search Bala, Ganderbal he, in a disguise of a saint (peer) looted jewelry and cash worth lakhs from the people in Khrew area.
He used to befool people by luring them that their jewelry and cash would be doubled by him, thus making them display precious ornaments. By his tricks he would loot all these ornaments.
A police party from Khrew came to know about his misdeads and took prompt action leading to his arrest. During questioning he revealed his involvement in number of frauds and having deceived people at Harwan, Nigeen, Pulwama and Digiana-Jammu.
Gold ornaments worth lakhs have been recovered on his instance. An FIR 49/2012 under section 420, 379, 109 RPC was registered in Police Station Pampore.
