JAMMU, Apr 28: Civil Society members have urged upon J&K LG to clamp a complete lockdown in J&K for 15 days to save the precious lives as there is a surge in Corona cases and number of deaths are increasing with every passing day.
Addressing a press conference here today S. Balvinder Singh, RTI activist along with civil society members S. Manjit Singh, S. Rajinder Singh Soodan, S. TP Singh and S. Janak Singh said despite various steps taken by the J&K administration to control the pandemic, number of positive cases and deaths are increasing daily and the situation has gone from bad to worse.
S. Balvinder Singh claimed that even the number of beds at Government Medical College are not sufficient to accommodate the number of increasing COVID positive patients whose number is increasing daily.
“The second wave of Corona is steep with three-fold rise in daily infections and the pandemic doubling time has reduced from 20 to 10 days,” he maintained adding that the system seems to be over burdened as even the ambulances become available after hours of wait to shift the bodies of the deceased people.
He claimed that all-out efforts by Government are not fructifying because of non-cooperation from public as COVID behaviour is not being properly followed.
