Tourism vital for State’s prosperity: Mir

SRINAGAR, June 8: Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir has said that all tourism potential spots of Dooru tehsil would be brought on tourism map for development and to showcase them outside the State for economic boost of the area.
The Minister was interacting with the people during his extensive tour of Dooru constituency. He said the pilgrim, adventure and leisure tourism potential of Shadiwara, Lowarmanda, Roshan Abad, Killar Shahabad and Manzmo would be explored fully by bringing them on the tourism map. He said in this regard detailed project reports would be formulated for approval of funds under State and Centre Plans.
Tourism Minister said that every place of Kashmir has tourism potential and tourism being the backbone of State’s economy, its expansion was the priority of the Government. He said tourism elevation means the prosperity of the whole State. “Tourism is not an enemy of anybody but friend of all of us. We should cash on it in right earnest for our prosperity”, he asserted and appealed one and all to contribute to it positively and not link tourism with politics and conflicts for the larger interest of the State.
The Minister said that nowadays tourism is interlinked with promotion of other potential sectors like Agriculture, Horticulture, Handicrafts and Handlooms besides adventure, pilgrim and border tourism and it was the responsibility of all of us to bring complete peace and normalcy in the State for providing congenial atmosphere for not only tourism boom but other trade and commerce activities in the State.
The Minister called upon the people to continue their full support to the Government for fulfilling the dream of prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. He asked them not to pay heed to hollow sloganeering of vested interest which are aimed at using innocent people for their personal motives.
During the tour the Minister took stock of people’s problems and developmental needs. He also inspected several ongoing projects in the area and directed concerned executing agencies for their time bound completion. He also instructed the concerned officers to formulate action plans covering each area of the Constituency well in time for their implementation.
