Chhamb DPs take up issues with nodal officer

JAMMU, June 8: Chhamb Displaced Persons Association members met the Additional Commissioner R S Mehta, who has been appointed as nodal officer for issues of  PoK/  West Pakistan/ Chamab refugees/ DPs, and discussed pending issues with  him.
Led by its president, S R Nagial, the office bearers projected the demands regarding enhancement of  rate per kanal for payment of cash compensation in lieu of deficiency of land, compensation for residential plots to 27 camp DPs for 1971 not less than Rs 4 lakh per family or in alternative housing plots, separate cash compensation of Rs 8 lakh per family in respect of land less displaced families of  1971,  payment of cash compensation to the families whose hand has been acquired by SIDCO/ BSF at Bari Brahmana and Samba, restoring of 182 ration cards cancelled by CDPRA of serving soldiers, grant of 10 % reservation to the wards of Chhamb DPs, payment of one time  ex-gratia/ compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the DPs (camp/ non-camp) of Chhamb who were displaced in 1965 and 1971.
The nodal officers listened to the all demands projected and assured that these would be forwarded to the Union Government shortly. Anil Choudhary, Jagdish Kumar and Darshan Singh also accompanied.
