JAMMU, Apr 29: Whatever may be poll outcome, the nation had to pay a very heavy price for the West Bengal and other state elections, as the Modi Government ignored the rising graph of COVID, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee said.
Referring to the last phase of polls held and concluded today, when the country is already in the grip of serious Covid crisis for past several weeks and people dying on roads in the wake of hospitals accross country facing serious oxygen shortage, PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma charged the BJP Government of ignoring the advance warnings of experts.
The ruling BJP’s lust for power and its inaction in timely steps, has left the country shattered as the government and ruling party were busy contesting the elections least bothering for the lives and safety of common citizens. A timely preparations for the second phase of Covid, could have saved several precious lives and prevented the worst ever sufferings being faced by the people.
Sharma said although the experts were issuing open warnings about the possibilities of a serious explosion of COVID, the government never took it seriously and did no preparations to deal with the situation. There were already reports in the media and social media where several experts had warned about the serious danger from COVID, suggesting around four-five lakh cases per day but those warnings were totally ignored and today we are reaching four lakhs figures without any preparations in time.
Since the ruling BJP and Modi Government were fully involved in the West Bengal elections and other States, it ignored the serious health emergency leading to worst ever human tragedy and sufferings in the country.
Sharma said that had the initiatives being taken now, been taken two months earlier, the quantum of sufferings and casualties would have been much less than being witnessed today.
