Flouting norms MO continues to work at PHC Lakhanpur since 2007

KATHUA, May 6: Flouting the norms of transfer policy, one Medical Officer is posted at Primary Health Centre Lakhanpur for last 14 years and the Department of Health Services has never bothered to shift him from there though their is norm of not keeping an employee posted at a certain place for more than three years.
According to sources, Medical Officer at PHC Lakhanpur is posted there since 2007 and the Department has never taken any step of shifting him from there due to the reasons best known to the authorities at the helm of affairs.
Sources said, the officer has converted a portion of Hospital building into his residential area while squeezing the space meant for the treatment and examination of the patients in the Hospital with the result the patients coming for treatment in the hospital are put to problems also.
Sources said when there is a set policy and norm of not keeping one officer or official posted at a certain place for more than three years why this particular doctor was not shifted from Lakhanpur for last 14 years. The Excelsior has received certain complaints from the people in this regard who wanted to know why the norms of transfer policy were not applied in this particular case.
However, when contacted Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Renu Sharma said that she has not received any complaint in this regard. She said the Doctor is permanently stationed there and available to the patients round the clock as well as in emergency. He has also remained very punctual during the last over one year in the time of COVID Pandemic hence Department did not think it proper to disturb him in view of his dedication and pain taken for patient care.
She however said in case any complaint regarding the Medical Officer is received by her office she will take the action as warranted under rules.
