Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 75 cattle rescued, 3 arrested

JAMMU, May 7: Kathua, Lakhanpur, Rakh Amb Talli and Ghagwal Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 75 cattle and arresting three smugglers.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Kathua intercepted a Mahindra load carrier bearing registration number JK08B-8636.
During checking, police team rescued 5 bovine animals from the vehicle, while the accused managed to escape from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
A case under FIR Number 226/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua and investigation initiated.
Meanwhile, the similar team from Police Station Kathua again intercepted a Mahindra load carrier bearing registration number JK08B-4980.
During frisking, police team rescued 5 bovine animals from the vehicle, while the cattle smugglers managed to flee away from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
A case under FIR Number 227/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua and investigation started.
However, a team from Police Station Lakhanpur led by SHO Inspector Sumeet Sharma under the supervision of SSP Kathua R C Kotwal laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02CC-7043.
During checking, police team rescued 19 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Guru Ram, son of Karam Chand of Chack Mohammad Yar Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu and Safeer, son of Mohammad Rafiq of Noorkote Tehsil Haveli District Poonch.
A case under FIR Number 63/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Lakhanpur and investigation initiated.
In another similar incident, a team from Police Post RA Talli laid a naka near village Manohar Gopala and arrested one person along with 31 cattle. The arrested person identified as Mohammad Arshad, son of Ghulam Hussain of Badheri District Samba was smuggling the cattle by foot to valley.
A case under FIR Number 145/2021 under Section 188 IPC was registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
In one similar case, a team from Police Station Ghagwal laid a naka at Tapyal and intercepted a tanker bearing registration number JK21-1281.
During checking, police team rescued 15 bovine animals from the vehicle.
A case under FIR Number 101/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation initiated.
