JAMMU, May 9: International Mother’s Day was celebrated with fanfare and zeal.
On the occasion of the “International Mother’s Day”, online poetry writing competition was organized by NCC Senior Wing Cadets of GGM Science College, Jammu under the guidance of Principal of the college, Dr. Ravender Tickoo and supervision of Associate NCC Officer Dr (Capt) Anjana Sharma.
Dr Balwinder Kour from the Department of Physics, GDC RS Pura and Dr Gurpeet Kour, Department of Zoology, GGM Science College judged all the poems written by more than twenty NCC cadets for this event. The first prize was bagged by Cadet Manvi Pawar and second prize winners were Cadet Riya Gupta and Mehak Billowria and the third prize was a tie between Cadet Gurpreet Kour and Manbhi.
Government P G College for Women Gandhi Nagar celebrates Mother’s Day under the patronage of Dr Sangita Nagari, Principal of the College and supervision of NSS Programme Officer Prof Mala Bhasin. Senior NSS volunteers jointly prepared a mesmerizing documentary on the theme “Thanking the Great Mothers of India”, who have selflessly served the country in one or other way. Another event on the theme ‘Thanking my Heaven on the Earth” was also organised wherein NSS volunteers participated with great zeal and prepared thank you cards, made flowers, special dishes, etc for their mothers. The documentary and collage were also posted at different social platforms.
Inter school poetry gathering was organised in RM Public School on the occasion of Mother’s Day. The participants were from RMPS, SNS Gandhi Nagar and SNS Jeevan Nagar. All the students showed their poetic talent while reciting poem on the theme–Mother’s Day. Renowned poetess and Blogger Dr Chanchal Bhasin was the chief guest and judge for the competition. Mannat Gandotra of RMPS emerged as the best poetess of the day. Shakshi Gupta of SNS Gandhi Nagar bagged 2nd position while China Jamwal of Shiksha Niketan Jeevan Nagar was given 3rd position. Director of the school Rakshan Mengi was impressed by the poetic talent. Principal of the School Shuchita Gupta also appreciated the efforts of students.
Spankh, (Ek Rachnatmak Udan), celebrated Mother Day. Dr Rajni Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Government Degree College, Billawar, Kathua and reputed Hindi and Dogri short story writer and poet was the chief guest while Mandeep Kaur was the guest of honour on the occasion. Shivani Anand, General Secretary, Spankh, Seeta Kumari, Joint Secretary and Harneet Kaur, Press Publicity Secretary, Spankh were also present.
