JAMMU, May 9: Various educational institutions celebrated World Red Cross Day.
An essay writing competition on the theme “15 minutes can save 3 lives” was organized to celebrated World Red Cross Day on the theme ‘Together we are unstoppable’ at Government College for Women, Udhampur. Around 72 students of the college participated in the competition.
Dr AK Raina, HOD in Hindi and Prof Tania Akhter, HOD in English were the judges for the competition. Prof Minu Mahajan, Principal of the college, urged upon the youngsters to volunteer for human welfare and develop in them the principles of universality, impartiality, love, care and sympathy.
The first position was bagged by Prakriti Sharma, whereas Anshad Bibi stood second and Yukta Sharma stood third in the competition. The students were given e-certificates for their participation.
Red Cross and Red Ribbon Club of GDC Kalakote jointly organized an online intra college essay competition on the theme ‘COVID-19: Humanity on Drive’ to celebrate Red Cross Day. The event was conducted successfully under the guidance of Dr Shezad Ahmed Convener Red Ribbon Club. Principal of College, Prof (Dr) Romesh Kr Gupta while speaking on the occasion through online mode said, “Teachers working in Universities, Colleges and Schools are also frontline worker, one side they are doing administrative duties, on the other side they are teaching students through various online mode. He also encouraged students to keep themselves isolate from gathering, other mass contact, also wear mask and go for vaccination”.
NCC cadets of 2JK Girls Battalion of GCW Parade Ground celebrated World Red Cross Day. On the occasion, NCC cadets made posters and made public aware online. Some NCC cadets also made videos to spread awareness among the people through their words. Principal of the college Dr SP Sarswat and other staff members appreciated the efforts of the NCC cadets and liked the videos and ideas of cadets. ANO Lt Suman Lata, Dr Nidhi Kotwal and Dr Mamta Sharma and Ast PTI Jasmeena Chib also appreciated the efforts of NCC cadets.
