JAMMU, June 11: Diploma Engineers Association of Power Development Department (PDD) today served ultimatum to the authorities and asked them for remedial measures for their issues, failing which the association members will launch State vide protest.
A meeting of the association was held under the chairmanship of its president JS Slathia, during which various issues including present working conditions in the PDD were discussed.
While speaking, Slathia condemned the attitude of the senior officers/ engineers of PDD towards the present crises arisen due to new mode of payments/ working system.
He added that engineers/ staff are facing lots of difficulties especially Junior Engineers, who are being compelled to go to their respective sections/ areas by hiring public transport to restore power during odd/night hours.
Slathia stressed to enhance the mobility of the field staff either vehicle allowances should be made permissible or vehicles should be provided.
Junior Engineers are experiencing discomfort, discontent and disappointment with the prevailing working conditions in PDD due to the discriminatory and indifferent attitude of some senior engineers, which has helped this grim situation to aggregate further, he said, adding that the Junior Engineers are compelled to take the material on loan in violation of the codal provision.
He warned the authorities to observe the rules strictly and not to compel the Junior Engineers to take the material on loan. In case of emergency, loan material thus issued will be obligatory on the part of Executive Engineers to adjust the material within the same month, he added.
Fixing of accountability at every level within the present setup of PDD is the most essential measure to improve the working of the department, Slathia said.
