* ‘Declare journalists as frontline warriors’

JAMMU, May 14: Yudhvir Sethi, vice president BJP J&K and convenor Sewa Hi Sangathan Abhiyan-2 today said that his party is rendering selfless service to provide succour to the people confronting with COVID-19 and related issues.
In a statement issued here, the senior BJP leader said that the party is working round the clock to reach out to the people facing difficulties with regard to healthcare facilities, hunger, livelihood, education, etc. He said that party cadre has lived the Mantra of ‘Sewa Parmo Dharma’ by its unrelenting and selfless service of providing food packets to patients, organizing COVID testing camps, providing assistance to people for vaccination, arranging oxygen cylinders and other medical aid for those who are less resourceful.
He said that the Union Territory is passing through a very crucial stage with mutations in the COVID-19 virus taking heavy toll. He said that the people should understand the exigency and follow all the precautions suggested by the Government and health experts.
Citing the negative role played by the other parties in the UT, the J&K BJP vice president said that NC, PDP and Congress have been badly exposed in this hour of crisis as these political outfits are doing nothing except criticizing Government at the Centre and in the UT. He categorically said that those who enjoyed power for over 70 years in J&K and filled their coffers by siphoning public money are nowhere in sight during these testing times.
“Contrary to the opposition’s negative role, BJP workers while facing the challenging times have shown their mettle to world by working tirelessly to help those in need. For BJP worker, serving the people comes first”, he said.
The senior BJP leader also demanded that journalists as well as media persons should be declared as frontline warriors. He said that several journalists have lost their lives while performing their professional duties on ground like all other frontline warriors and emphasized that in such a situation it is necessary that they be immediately declared as frontline warriors by the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Sethi urged the Lt Governor to realize this lapse now and immediately issue a notification declaring all the journalists associated with print, electronic and news portals as frontline warriors thus securing them along with their families.
