Congress demands visit of central experts to Rajouri, Poonch hospitals

JAMMU, May 14: JKPCC Chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma besides former health minister and vice chairman DDC, Shabir Ahmad Khan and Senior Congress leader, Ashok Sharma have demanded that central experts visiting Jammu on Sunday should also visit GMC hospital Rajouri besides district hospitals in Rajouri and Poonch as well as other CHCs in hot spot areas to suggest urgent measures to upgrade the facilities there in view of large number of casualties and positive cases.
In a letter to LG Manoj Sinha the Congress leaders said there are huge vacancies and shortcomings of manpower besides shortage of logistics in GMC Rajouri.
They said 21 posts of doctors, 11 posts of specialists and 40 posts of paramedics and class IV including nurses, technicians, pharmacists, nursing orderlies etc are vacant at GMC Rajouri.
The Congress leaders also said that GMC Rajouri was sanctioned 3000 LPM oxygen plant last year but only 1000 LPM plant has been installed which is inadequate to cater to the requirements of available 40 ventilators and the rising number of serious patients requiring ventilator supported beds.
They hoped that the LG Manoj Sinha would ask the central team to visit Rajouri and Poonch districts to suggest urgent measures for upgrading the facilities to deal with COVID situation in twin border districts.
