UDHAMPUR, May 15: A pedestrian was knocked to death by a speeding truck at bus stand Chenani, here this morning.
The deceased was identified as Bhagwan Singh (65), son of Ratan Singh, resident of ward number 3 Chenani. He was walking on the roadside at bus stand Chenani when a truck bearing registration number JK02AF-6387 hit him.
The victim was rushed to Sub District Hospital Chenani where he succumbed to his injuries after some time. Later, the body was sent for postmortem and after all the legal formalities, it was handed over to the family members for the last rites.
Driver of the truck managed to escape from the site of accident while the Chenani police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
