Keep K. oil buses off roads

Sir,
Basohli bus stand has been converted into a garage of the passenger buses which have lost road worthiness because of the expiry of their running period. The buses which need to be confined to the scrap houses consider the internal route of Kathua, Bani, Basohli and Billawar more safe for their business than others. For running these buses with cheap fuel, they use kerosene oil instead of the costly diesel. Such type if buses are plying on the road un-checked. Travelling in these buses is like inviting untimely death for oneself as the journey by these buses is not safe in any way. Firstly, these buses emit thick balls of smoke which cause nausea, head ache and vomiting to the passengers and create health hazards; secondly, these buses having out lived their period run at a snail’s pace and are always prone to accidents. These buses take six hours from Kathua to Basohli while others travel this distance in only two and half hours. Many times these buses develop faults on the roads and in the deserted places due to which the pasengers get stranded even in odd hours of the day. Often these buses meet accidents here and there due to the technical failures causing heavy human losses. It is amazing how and from where do the owners of such buses manage thousands of liters of poor man’s fuel ‘kerosene oil’ while the poor man goes from pillar to post in order to get 5 liters of it. It means that such illegal business is being carried out inconnivance with the PDS department. It is observed that on the Highways no athority or department takes notice of these buses which emit black smoke of kerosene causing environmental pollution, while the personal light vehicles like cars are interrupted and checked for pollution certificates and are penalized in case they don’t possess it. Many times the matter has been brought in the notice of concerned quarters through print media and during the meetings with the local administration, but one fails to know why do these authorities remain mum over such important issues. For ensuring the security of life of the daily commuters and that of the environment these buses should at once be  kept off  the roads and confined to the scrap houses.
Yours etc…..
Shiv Kumar Padha
