UDHAMPUR, June 12: For ensuring development of tourism circuit between Katra-Shiv Khori and strengthening tourism infrastructure in Reasi a proposal has been submitted for creation of separate Reasi Development Authority or renaming Katra Development Authority as Katra-Reasi Tourism Development Authority by including other tourism and religious destinations in the district.
The proposal was submitted by the District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Commissioner/ Secretary Tourism Department.
It has been proposed that the historic Reasi town needs to be developed as a model tourist destination to attract the pilgrims visiting shrines of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Shiv Khori.
Development of Parks, wayside amenities, tourism cafes, cable car between Sula and famous Bhimgarh fort, development of religious places like Siar Baba, Shiv Priyag, Bharakh Ziarat and other important spots has been stressed upon.
Historical places like Bhimgarh Fort and ancient Ghoda Gali in Mahore will also be projected as tourist destinations.
Dr Shahid has also constituted a committee of officers for survey of all religious places, cave shrines, tourism spots which need to be developed.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara, will head the team of officers for survey of all tourist, historical and religious places in the district which need to be developed. Meanwhile, the DDC has issued directions for availability of land for development of wayside amenities between Katra and Shiv Khori.
